Strategy analysis you can defend, number by number.
SWOT, Five Forces, PESTEL and seven more frameworks for any public company. Every financial figure is checked against the company’s own 10-K before it gets a citation. If it doesn’t match, the report says so instead of hiding it.

How it’s checked
From the 10-K to the sentence you defend.
Five steps from one real report: Costco VRIO, 2026-10-18.
- Step 1
Filing in
The company’s own annual report, pulled from SEC EDGAR by accession number, next to the data provider’s statement row.

Data provider row- Revenue · FY2026
- $303.154B
- Step 2
Match
Each provider figure is checked against the filing’s XBRL value. It is linked to the 10-K only when they match.

Named gaps
A figure the filing does not report is shown with its label, never with a filing link.
EBITDA · FY2026Named gap$14.36B — not a reported filing lineThe provider computes it; the 10-K has no such line, so the report says so. - Step 4
The sentence
Every figure in the prose has an evidence id. Hover or focus it to see the filing line it resolves to.

The sheet a student opens when asked “where did that come from?”: figure → sentence → source.

Three things OPAL won't do
Anything with a chat box will answer you. The difference shows up when the evidence isn't there.
It won’t write without evidence.
If OPAL can’t find enough verifiable facts about a company, it stops before writing anything, tells you why, and refunds the credit.
It won’t hand you a number with no source.
Every financial figure links to the filing or dataset row it came from. The writer has no calculator and no data feed, so it can’t invent one.
It won’t fill a gap to look complete.
When the data runs out, the report says so and moves on. A named gap you can explain. A plausible guess you can’t.
Analysis you can be
asked about
A chatbot writes well. OPAL writes something you can be asked about. Every claim has a source you can open, and the Defense sheet counts the figures that don’t.

Defense sheet
One panel with every figure in the report, the sentence it’s in, and the source behind it, grouped by section, with a running count of how many have a source and how many don’t. It travels with the PDF and Markdown exports.
Traceable financials
Revenue, margins, ratios and cash flow from licensed data, with the filing behind each figure. When a number isn't in the data, the gap stays visible.
Cited research
Every claim has a source you can open. A reader can check the work instead of trusting it.
Ten frameworks, one per report
SWOT, Porter's Five Forces, PESTEL, VRIO, Balanced Scorecard and five more. One framework per report, so each one is a step you can check instead of a dump.
Logo and brand colours
The company’s logo and brand colour on the cover when we can find them, and a clean initials mark when we can’t. The formatting holds up in a board deck.
PDF export
A print-ready export that keeps the section structure, with the source bibliography carried through to the last page.
GTM Intelligence — deal coaching (beta)
Score a deal against MEDDPICC, see which elements fall short for its stage, and get coaching on the deal notes you enter. Coaching on the deal notes you enter — not evidence-verified. OPAL does not research the account. Deals are stored in this browser only.

Put a company next to one competitor. Both sides go through the same filing check, and a metric is compared only when both companies have a comparable figure. Otherwise the report names the gap. 2 credits per comparison.
